cassildra: A silver pegasus on a purple shield. (lolz: so excited)
I have insomnia, but that's okay. I blame it on the fact that I left my light on. And to think, I used to sleep with the darned thing on all the time!

I've started Christmas shopping already. I got Mom a copy of Beedle the Bard, which will make her a happy woman, and I got one of [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin's gifts. I'm hoping it's not presumptive of me to order it, but the worst he can do is not like it. Ah, well. That really doesn't make much sense, but it IS a non-locked entry. :P

And, of course, when stuff starts arriving, I'll want to give it to people RIGHT THEN. I love giving gifts and I hate having to wait :(

Thank you to everyone who helped [livejournal.com profile] squigglz' dragons grow up! I'm sure she'll be quite pleased.

Oh, hey, it's officially November 30th as I write this! I survived NaBloPoMo! Awesome. I think I'll keep trying to write every day, because it's a good habit to get into.

And now it's bedtime, because I'm worn out and I don't feel like messing with the drama that will ensue if I IM this person back. It's none of you, don't worry.

I have a kitty on my lap, you guys! Specifically, her name is Illyana, and she is [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin's baby. She is adorable and I love her. I am incredibly glad that I have been adopted by his cats.

Hah. It really hasn't been that long, but now when I hear sirens outside, I think of [livejournal.com profile] metaphor and hope that she's out on an exciting and interesting run. I don't want anyone to be hurt, of course, but I'm so proud of Rueling for working so hard. :D

Speaking of a Rue, I found a couple of neat links in her LJ this morning. Chronologically, bone marrow cures AIDS?. Next, this happened: possible proof.

I am leaving for Columbus around 1. I should be getting in around dinnertime, so while I'd like to spend this evening hanging with fellow KoLers, if anyone in the area only has tonight to chill, we can. There's a tag called 'contact info'--feel free to call me if you can see that post.

Here's hoping that TxtLJ and/or calling posts in will count for nablopomo. I'm not going to hunt a computer down just to write an LJ entry! That's silly.

It is difficult to type around a cat. She's certainly better than a blanket, though.

Oh my fuck dude why are people still harping on the JFK assassination? Gah, conspiracy theorists. It happened, it's over, get over it and learn to function. Sigh.

I actually don't have much to say right now, so I'm gonna split. Have a great weekend without me, y'all.

Obviously not! What little research Bram Stoker did was put to good use.

This post counts for NaBloPoMo because it is in right before the deadline! So there!

Yesterday ended up being pretty awesome. The day was great and very productive, and then [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin came to get me for the infamous Election Tuesday Night Dinner I'd heard so much about.

See, I have this weird habit that's been developed over years of being ill. If I'm around too many people that I don't know at once, I normally don't talk. (Stop laughing! I'm serious!) I also don't usually talk in cars, but that's changed lately, too. It's also beside the point.

From the moment I walked into the house, I felt incredibly welcomed. I got tackled by the most adorable 5-year-old ever, and got samples of Lush and a bottle of a limited edition BPAL scent (Screeching Parrot, if you were curious) that smells fucking incredible on me. I need to take my stuff with me next week--here's hoping I don't forget.

I got made to feel like family from the instant I arrived. That's not happened in so long. I got hugs as I left! It was awesome! I also think that I didn't shut up unless I was stuffing my face or trying (and failing) to concentrate on Fluxx.

We got kicked out at 9, and ran back to the Toybox to catch up on the bit of the results we missed on the way. I got cranky with all of the mentions of race, to the point of flipping shit, but I think I can blame a good bit of that on being up since god-awful o'clock, along with having severe election burnout. I got ranty enough that I had to walk upstairs to chill out a couple times before I got over it.

Also, I've got to add as a bit of an aside, last night was the first time I managed to be proud of Senator McCain in a long, long time. He didn't stand for any booing. If I'd have seen more of 2000!McCain, I would have had a much harder decision to make.

Crashed around 2 after a long discussion involving political what-ifs, woke up around 7. I'm tired. I don't mind. Reading back over my friends list to see what I've missed has me pretty damned emotional. I still think it's not sunk in entirely. He won. We won.

So catch me up. Dole lost? How did Franken do? I know Prop 8 was passed, and that the abortion measures were firmly trounced, but what else happened? What's important to you?

...I just realized I didn't see who won locally. I should probably go look that up (or just hope my friends list is lovely enough to tell me :P).

I think today calls for a nap, or else some of that fabulous blueberry rooibos. Maybe both.

It's election day. Get out there and vote! Hell, a ton of companies are giving things away today if you wear your I Voted sticker, so go get free coffee from Starbucks. I'm not sure who else is giving things away, but I'm sure that you can find a list if you really looked.

I have an appointment this morning (yay shots), and then I'm going to go vote. I might also get stolen this evening, but that's not certain at this point. We'll see what happens.

Okay, I'm running late. Catch y'all later.

Yesterday was so much fun. There was Sports Night! And Rock Band! And AD&D 4th edition! And Indian food! And omg my character for the campaign, I love her bitchy snark so!

Okay, let me back up a little.

[livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin came and got me around noonish, and we went back to his place. We watched the first DVD of Sports Night, and now I'm hooked. So, along with LOST, I have another addiction to fuel. At least this one's only three discs long...

After looking at [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin's shelves, I'm going to have to deal with this a lot. XD

I played Rock Band for the second time ever last night. I really, really like it, but I have terrible rhythm and am afraid to move from vocals. Don't get me wrong, I'm apparently really good at them, but it's still kind of intimidating. I'll go back to playing clarinet by ear and fudging rhythms kthx.

I also made my first ever 4e AD&D character. I like the system a lot more than I thought I would, to my delighted surprise. As much as I love 2e, 4e is a lot less clunky. I miss THAC0 the tiniest bit--mostly for nostalgic value or some form of geek cred, I think--but it's so much easier now. While I understand the arguments saying that it's too much like an MMORPG, I really like the way things have been streamlined. I mean, if I can pick it up with few problems, it's definitely a lot easier than it used to be. (Consider that I was pretty much just a White Wolf player beforehand--d10 is all I know! d10 is my OTP! I was kind of rabid about it actually...)

An amusing sidenote: when the GM was trying to decide whether or not to make my character's entrance tragic or not, I mentioned that I don't mind tragic. The White Wolf jokes started flying... Oh, WW, how I love your angst so. Even if most of it would be avoided if people would play vampires less like Lestat and more like Dracula...

I got home this morning and was so thankful that Betty wasn't on the corner. Betty is my 81 year old neighbor, the Queen Gossip of Dormont, and she'd blow a gasket if she saw some guy dropping me off at 0740! God forbid!

In more important news, this article made me really nervous. People fall for these tricks, unfortunately. It sparked an interesting discussion over on the WW Mods. A friend from Argentina was discussing how everyone there is required to show up and vote, and for some reason I really like that idea. I also (re-)learned what the difference between a republic and a democracy is. Apparently, my senior year was spent being too busy with migraines to deal with actually learning anything.

Well, now I've got dishes to do and a kitchen to organize. I'm far too awake for being up so early.

Don't forget to vote tomorrow, Americans.

I got off the internet early last night, fully intending to get to sleep before godawful o'clock. And then, I saw that Holes was on! I like Holes because it's a pretty good adaptation of the book, so whatever, I curled up to watch.

Those bastards at ABC Family put Down Periscope on after Holes! I cannot resist the lure of Kelsey Grammer (complete with tattoo'd dick), the Navy, and pirates. Also, Rob Schneider as a hardass, by-the-book Naval officer is pretty amusing to me for some reason.

I woke up with a migraine. I'm not impressed. I just took the Magic 5 pills, so we'll see how long it takes for me to hurt less.

Today's plan involves making a 4th ed AD&D character, watching something interesting on DVD (not sure what yet), and hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin until some obscene hour of the morning.

...Would someone be able to icon the first picture in yesterday's "my costume rocked my world" post? I seriously look hardcore ":DDD!" and sufficiently FSM-like. It might end up as an icon over on [livejournal.com profile] churchofthefsm... the obligatory "Why yes, I look like a mass of noodles with meatballs!" picture.

And now I feel like I'm making no sense, so it's time for chores. Catch you crazy cats later.

Last night was possibly the best Halloween ever. [livejournal.com profile] bluemoon_991 threw an amazing party, complete with watching TEH COOB and MSTing it, some very appropriate tarot card readings, lots of Rock Band (I'm amazed I still have a voice after that!), and the obligatory candy handing outage to kids who were trick or treating. One kid got a look at my costume and said, with wide eyes, "You're spaghetti!"

I should have given him two pieces. Unfortunately, I didn't answer the door when he knocked, so one piece it was.

I met a couple of new people; I failed to get Idaho's LJ, but [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin and I had a lot of fun flirting at the party.

I ended up spending the night somewhere I didn't expect to, but things turned out really, really well in the end.

Surprisingly, I'm running on ... loltastic hours of sleep, as in less than 1 (because we all know that sleeping in strange places causes a Nicki to not sleep), and I don't have a migraine *knock on wood*. Let's hope that I can manage to make it two BOTH parties I swung an invite to (mainly because the second invite was scored by the Associative Property of Cool, and I've got to get my awesome on). So.. here's hoping I can find a picture of want I want to wear this evening, and can jury-rig the rest. If not, well, I guess I'll let [livejournal.com profile] trebo put me in a costume.

Scary thought, that.

If you happen to have pictures of me in the FSM costume, could you please email them? I would ♥ you forever. If you don't have my email, the address is on my profile.

I should probably go shower and then crash. Or, maybe it should be the other way around.

Oh, before I forget: [livejournal.com profile] tobydog and I have finally figured out what we're doing for my birthday. He's coming up with (I think he said [livejournal.com profile] finalphoenix, or else it was [livejournal.com profile] davidmcclelland...) for lunch. We'll probably go to Sushi Too for lunch, unless someone else knows of a better place. We'll end up going to Primanti Bros. for dinner, unless someone else has a great idea for good food.

We'll be celebrating on Dec. 31, because everyone who is coming home for break will be there, and that way we can all get drunk (well, depending on age/inclination toward boozahol) and hit Tom's to watch the ball drop. Yup. Ending the night at the shittiest diner chain in town. We all know we want to watch a ball laden with Swavorski crystals drop very slowly into the new year, amirite?

It's time for me to take a huge nap, so I leave you with today's dragons. Click to your heart's content.

ETA: Migraine, if you're gonna hit, do it now so I can try to control it. Don't fuck around, please.

In other news, I am starting to gear up for NaBloPoMo. I'll be posting a lot of entries this coming month, hopefully daily, all outside of friends-lock. It's going to be an interesting endeavor.

If you'd like to see my thoughts on a particular topic, leave me a message. I'm interested.
