*shakes mighty fist at [livejournal.com profile] milliways_bar*

You've sucked me back in, and it's all [livejournal.com profile] seanan_mcguire's fault (with her permission, even). I'll be submitting an application for October "Toby" Daye by Friday. If you haven't read her canon yet, I highly recommend Rosemary and Rue. The second book came out yesterday--A Local Habitation. I'm waiting for it to show up on my doorstep, impatiently.

Now, to figure out who the hell to use as her PB, since Jennifer Connelly's gotten too old... Suggestions welcome... or maybe I can convince/pay Seanan to draw me some art cards to use as icons. Hmm...

I am no longer employed at Target.

It's kind of a shock, but eh, it's probably for the best anyway. I didn't really like the job anyway. I still have AFMBE, so I can terrorize my players with zombies.
cassildra: A silver pegasus on a purple shield. (simpsons: doesn't believe in zombies)
So... I finally caved in. I did it. The temptation was too much, and I went broke for less than 24 hours doing it, but I am the happiest horror-gamer-chick alive. I bought AFMBE.

Those of you who know me, even a little bit, know about my obsession with zombies. I live in Pittsburgh, not too far from Monroeville Mall, for Deity's sake. Ghosts kind of strike me as tragic and not scary--always have, really--and vampires, mages, and werewolves are too ...political to be frightening. Zombies don't stop until they rot to pieces or are destroyed utterly. Zombies have no fear, feel no pain, feel no emotions... They are driven onward by their need to consume human flesh, to destroy the world as we know it, and to eat until they (sometimes literally) explode.

I am a happy geek today.

Apparently, the 11 years of RP experience I have is moot because I've been playing on LJ RPs, which are totally not RPGs, and there are no people who play both, and I AM INTIMIDATED BY DICE

Now, I'll be the first to admit that I hate combat systems, but that's because most of them come off as clunky and kills the flow of the story I'm trying to tell. Yeah, I'm more of a storyteller roleplayer (not a roleplaying games player) as opposed to a dice monkey, but that doesn't mean that dice intimidate me! I just wish that combat could be more streamlined.

Gnnn, I am going to go rage incoherently at my TV while I write really bad Chowder/Shnitzel/Captain K'nuckles/Bubbie tentacle!rape!fic that I obviously could have roleplayed out in fucking Milliways.

I never realized that my hours spent posting with you guys was looked down on so severely by "real" roleplayers! I'm sorry, players of roleplaying GAMES, who are obviously SO SUPERIOR to LJ RPers.

This rant brought to you by the letters F, W, and the concept Migraine, which may be causing me to blow this way out of proportion.

Today is my birthday. I don't say this because I want/demand well-wishes, but because I am amazed at the fact that this is the first birthday I've had in ages where I'm excited to have my own special day. Hell, it's been a special weekend! I've documented Saturday, and yesterday was so hectic I didn't really take the time to post (which feels weird, but even when you're in the habit of things, sometimes you forget/are too busy to do said thing).

Yesterday was a great day. [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin and I woke up in time to shower and head to Oakland. We met up with [livejournal.com profile] saberpilot to hit Phantom of the Attic. I needed more dice, and found some very pretty ones (the clear with black!). I also got some mini dice, because I'm addicted to them. I resisted temptation and did not pick up WoD books--Asylum, Urban Legends, and Ghost Stories were begging me, as was Call of Cthulhu 4th edition.

Then we met up with [livejournal.com profile] nierfenhimer and another friend, and I went to Lu Lu's Noodles for the first time. Then, we hit the Natural History Museum and wandered around until exhaustion.

[livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin bought a copy of the game PitchCar, which is rare and out of print. That game is so much fun. Flicking little wooden discs around a track is surprisingly awesome!

Then there was gaming, and I ended up with a migraine. Luckily, after I decided to stop sucking and take my Imitrex, I felt much better. We killed an adolescent black dragon, omg, it was awesome.

Then there were cuddles. I ended up so tired at one point that I started to thank [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin for a long list of being awesome while he was sleeping next to me. I can't remember half of what I said, or why I did it while I knew he was asleep, but I managed to get a lot of cheesy "thank you for x" statements out that I've wanted to say for a while.

Unfortunately, the night wasn't nearly as pleasant as the day. I ended up having some terrible nightmares about zombies and losing all of my friends and being alone. It was terrible. Luckily, I had a [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin to cuddle me until I felt better.

Laundry's in the washer, and since it's laundry day and my birthday, I am hanging out in PJs today. Despite being tired from tossing and turning, today's been awesome.

Dad took rent money out of my account yesterday, which infuriated me, because I told him at the beginning of last month that I was moving out. He said he'd put it back since I called my mother to talk to her, but then, I got an email this morning...

I am glad you called yesterday. Your dad is on one of those kicks where everyone needs to call me every holiday. Don't ask me where he is coming from. He says he will put your money back when you come and get your stuff. You know if it were up to me, I would not care. We could box the stuff up and leave it in that room, but he is such an a_ _. I pray your new year will be the best one yet for you and Trevor too. He told me he would take care of you, and I believe he will. Have fun at your party tonight. I have 1 small box and 2 boxes paper comes in. Call and let me know when you are coming, I have some kraut & pork for you. Can't wait to see you on Tuesday!!

A conversation I just had with my boyfriend:

[livejournal.com profile] cassildra: I really am pretty certain that I won't see that money.
[livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin: Not even when we get your stuff out?
[livejournal.com profile] cassildra: I never told you about the $2000, did I?
[livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin: No. No, you didn't.
[livejournal.com profile] cassildra: Oh, yeah. When I first got disability, I got a little over $2k in back pay. I can't have that much money in an account, or else I lose the disability.
[livejournal.com profile] cassildra: So I was stupid and trusting, and had Dad put the money into cashier's checks, and put them in his safe deposit box.
[livejournal.com profile] cassildra: Fast forward to two years ago. I tell Dad I'm moving out, and ask for the money. He says that he'd used it for taxes after he'd asked me, and he gave me the impression that he'd never pay me back.
[livejournal.com profile] cassildra: I may have said yes. I do have gaps in my memory.
[livejournal.com profile] cassildra: I would have, however, made sure that he would have paid me back.
[livejournal.com profile] cassildra: That's a lot of money I'll never see.
[livejournal.com profile] cassildra: I've been trying to move out for at least two years, and he's always managed to block me before. I think that's why he's so angry, because he lost his "control" over me.
[livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin: How has he "blocked" you?
[livejournal.com profile] cassildra: The first time he took the money that was mine, that I was relying on, to move to Virginia with a friend. Other times just fell through and/or he made me feel guilty for leaving Mom.
[livejournal.com profile] cassildra: He's mad that he's lost his little Cinderella.

And yes, once, while he was drunk and Mom dared to go off and have a good time with her sisters and not be miserable at home with him, he did tell me that I was his Cinderella.

It's been requested that I find something else to do, so I think today will be my re-entry into Milliways. I think I can channel Faye this afternoon, at least for a bit.

Ugh. I woke up an hour and 15 minutes later than usual, which threw my schedule into a tizzy. It sounds weird, but holy crap, I had planned on doing two loads of laundry and a few more dishes, but apparently not. My brain is complaining about getting up at all.

Neither [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin nor I have been sleeping well lately. I don't know what's up with him, but I think mine is partially because I have that whole empathic thing going on, and he's just not sleeping. I'm trying to pull all of his restlessness, because I have the option of sleeping in and he doesn't. If I can work things right, I'll have managed to pull 99% of it by this weekend. That's saying it doesn't go away on its own, of course.

I played a couple of new games last night--Primordial Soup and Pandemic. (Links go to Wikipedia, since BoardGameGeek is down as of writing this.) Soup took me a bit to get used to, because of the way the strategy works. Pandemic is a deeply intense, nerve-wracking, AWESOME game of cooperation. However, it's so intense that I ended up dreaming about playing it in bed. Weird dreams, yo.

It has been determined that I am the female [livejournal.com profile] jameel, for better or worse. I think that it's awesome and hope that it doesn't squick my boyfriend TOO badly. ;D

...Illyana has been in a weird mood lately. She usually scratches at things to get attention during the day, but chills out for the most part at night. The past couple of nights, though, she's been demanding attention from [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin and I. It got so bad the night before last that we had to kick her out of the bedroom--and she STILL spent the night scratching at the door. I don't know what's going on with her. She doesn't need her nails to be clipped, because that was taken care of last night, and she still went wild. ...And now she's tearing around the house. This is my first experience in living with cats, so I'm not sure if she's going nuts or if something's setting her off.

I am going to stop rambling now and start reading Mage: the Awakening in preparation for the endgame on the Mods. --although, remind me, isn't there a technical name for a soul-jar, and if so, what is it?

Today is looking to be busy but not very interesting... Chores have given me a case of the Mondays.

However, there is a possibility that I will be running a World of Darkness game locally. More news as this story develops.
